Our vision

In wearing The Pin, we as Pin Up Girls make ourselves visibly available to women who may want our support when they feel their safety is compromised. Whether assistance is requested or offered, we value the power of subtlety: it can be very effective to show solidarity just by standing next to another woman, starting a conversation, asking for the time or walking down the block together. 

As Pin Up Girls, we recognize that some people in our communities are more vulnerable than others. When we wear The Pin we make a commitment to a heightened awareness of those vulnerabilities in our environments. We recognize that in our society there are different intersections of power and violence, and that women of colour, women in the LGBTQ2IA+ community, differently-abled woman and indigenous women are statistically at a higher risk for violence and unfortunately at a higher risk for marginalization. 

We respect and appreciate men, and also acknowledge that we do live in a society where misogyny and the objectification of women is still common. We’re committed to taking interpersonal steps to change the tides of accepted violence against women. We thank you for choosing to wear The Pin.
